"I...yes? I just don't know if - it's like you said, it'll be different with magic."

Little does he know that Steve has fairly applicable experience there.

"I suppose," he says, quietly. "I'll ask if he wants to talk about it."

Honestly, he doesn't want to know enough to push for it.

"If I go home," he corrects, boldly and quite possibly out of nowhere.

"I don't know. But if you're right about him, then...I've got nothing else to go home for."

A quiet, sad truth. He doubts Nagini would forgive him.

"We were. But...I went to Grindelwald, and she didn't."

He closes his eyes for a moment.

"A Maledictus' curse can't be broken. Even if I go back, even if she does forgive me, I'm just...I'm going to have to just watch until she can never be human again."

Credence makes a noise that wants to be an incredulous laugh.

"I couldn't graduate someone."

He's not even convinced of that assuming the 'someone' is himself.

Credence looks very much like he doesn't agree with this but can't summon the energy to launch a serious argument.

"But you're - better than me. At everything."

Credence frowns at the name.

"No, she'd say you're worse than me and even more likely to go to Hell because you have one and a half boyfriends."

It's somehow both true and almost a joke, simultaneosly.

"...I don't think there's any such place as hell any more, either," Credence says, which is at least an implicit agreement with Quentin's other remark.

[He's not sure if Quentin will want to talk to him, but he knows it feels wrong not to say anything to him. And he misses him. So he gives him a few hours after Jedao reports that things are okay and then decides to just... swing by his cabin after the end of dinner shift. Mostly because he isn't sure what to say in a network message.

So he knocks and absolutely does not let himself shift awkwardly from foot to foot as he waits for Quentin to answer. And hopes that he didn't pick a time when he's just not in.]

He doesn't realize how worried he'd been until relief floods through him, and his hug is probably a little over-enthusiastic. "Hi. I'm sorry we didn't think to talk to you first," he murmurs into the side of his neck before pulling away, looking sheepish instead blankly stoic to hide his worry.

He can't help grinning, he's still so ludicrously happy. "Yeah, it just... that's all it is. You just say the words. I guess most cultures have something a lot more complicated than that, though."

He kisses the side of Quentin's neck, since he's there, and nuzzles into the warmth there a little, relieved at the affection. "Neither of us thought it was something we could ever have," he admits quietly, and the sheer awe at having been so gloriously wrong comes through in his voice. "I didn't even know to want it, before the barge."

Fives reaches out and snags his hand as he follows him in, and ducks his head a little to only partially hide his wicked grin. "We basked very gloriously," he answers. "I promise."

He squeezes Quentin's hand. "I know he probably told you, but you do know he wants to marry you too, as soon as you're ready, right?" he asks, a little quieter.
