He says, and gives Fives a quick, reassuring smile.

"It will be okay. There's just gonna have to be a tiny little mission between now and that point. Which we're going to have to strategize and carry out."

Fives holds on to her hand and feels bad that she's the one reassuring him. Quentin's explanation makes it sounds better, though. Doable. And maybe something he can help with. He's at least excellent at mission planning.

He gives her hand a squeeze back and smiles at her sidelong as she delivers her news, mostly because he doesn't want to take his eyes off Jedao as he hears it.

Taura drops her own fork as she sees Jedao's fingers tightening around his. She raises her newly free hand to rest along his jaw, thumb carefully stroking his cheek. "You did make such nice plans for me, sweetheart. Seems a shame not to follow them."

Bask in that for a second before diving into House Bharaputra.

She grins. "Quentin wanted to be here when I told you. And Fives and I already talked about it, too."

He leans into her hand, closing his eyes for a moment. It twangs something strong and taut inside him, like plucking a steel harp string. So many of the people who otherwise love him still resent anything that feel like managing them; plans and ambitions are one of the ways Jedao shows his love, and it's always a bright, lovely feeling when someone welcomes the impulse.

"Good," he whispers, one hand coming up to cover the backs of her fingers. And then, stronger. "Good." He takes a deep breath, beams softly at her, especially after the confirmation that Fives is okay with it. "You're going to have such amazing adventures." He wants everything for her; he wants worlds for her, and he's so happy she's reaching for them.

"Right," says Quentin, simultaneously catching up and slowing down. He's a 'thoughts first feelings second' soul, but now he remembers that he'd wanted to see this and clues in to the look on Jedao's face. He feels himself absolutely melt, and sneaks a look at Fives.

It's nice to be able to support someone else's joy, especially when it's someone you love so deeply.

Fives is smiling so wide his cheeks actually ache with it when he meets Quentin's eyes. He's not at all sure why Taura doesn't make him feel threatened when so many people do, but he's nothing but happy for her decision, and for the fact it will open up a whole galaxy of possibilities to her, as well as keep her in their lives.

"My brothers are going to be falling all over themselves over you," he assures her almost impishly.

Permission to take your inmate to the enclosure for a follow-up tutorial on explosives? I have a feeling it'd do him some good.

As long as you both come over for dinner afterwards?

Me, Jedao, Fives.

[He knows Jedao likes her, and he likes Rawne. The whole gang together sounds like fun.]

Taura laughs brightly at Fives' addition to the conversation. "You and Jedao both seem so sure of that. I wouldn't mind even if they didn't, but it sounds wonderful."

She could live without the harem of clones and Wookies, though she'll certainly enjoy them all if it hapens. She turns her attention back to Jedao and tells him softly, "The adventures, I'm counting on."

"I just have this weird suspicion that strength, competence, fun-loving gusto, and firm respect for personhood are going to be major selling points for a large swathe of that demographic," Jedao points out wryly.

Jedao does occasionally have blind spots around how anyone could not love the people he loves, but he feels like he's on firmer empirical ground here.

"This is probably true."

Agrees Quentin, and reaches to sip his coffee with a satisfied smile.

"And either way, we are extremely glad to have you." But, since they do need to get to it; "Why don't you lay out for them what you did for me about where the best data on your world might be and the obstacles to getting our hands on it?"

Great. You aren't a vegetarian or allergic to anything?

Do you have to be able to do it yourself or can I just shield the shit out of you?

I need to be able to do it myself. Repeatedly and under stress conditions, if need be. I've done some reading [because of course he has; Elijah is nothing if not a keen student] but I appreciate that doesn't prepare me for the...practical element.

I mean I could give you something semi-permanent, absorbing impact for a couple of weeks.

At the Enclosure door, Quentin demands;

"What the hell is going on?"

He still has some leftover protective sentiment.

"Jasper challenged me to a fight, and it seems as if it's the only way to get past yet another repetition of the same conversations."

First of all; that gem is not human.

"I don't think we can hit her with the classics."

"I think I have...offensive capacity covered," he says, somewhat pleased that the conversation hasn't been derailed by Quentin telling him he's an idiot. "What I need is to stop her killing me before I can use it."
