Quentin makes a mental note to himself to never in his life take this for granted for even a moment. He smiles at Jedao in shy, private delight, and toes off his damp socks, dropping them on top of a clammy sweater before padding towards the livingroom.

Nothing in the world sounds better than dropping down into their cozy, shabby couch and having Jedao come settle down on top of him and see to the mess that is the muscles in his back right now.

Jedao goes on tiptoe to kiss the cold tip of Quentin's nose and the follows through on scooping everything up and whisking it away before padding back in to ruffle Quentin's hair and settle in beside him.

"Long shift?"

"Exceptionally. Things seem like they're turning around for the better- but the snow that is left is packed and wet."

He says, shifting around to get comfortable, leaning into Jedao and closing his eyes.

"And that makes it heavy."

Jedao settles in to start working on Quentin's sore muscles.

"Thank you for taking care of our home," he murmurs, pressing a kiss to the back of Quentin's neck.

He hums, and moves to set his hot chocolate down, so he can relax his arms completely and give Jedao room to work.

"Thank you for taking care of me."

"I have ulterior motives, of course," Jedao points out, voice smooth and warm and slightly smug.

"Most important being that I get to touch you. And hear you moan. But also I'm buttering you up for a mistletoe check-in."

"Ooh. Gossip, drama, romance, torrid passion. Do tell?"

Although;

"Can I lie down first though? It's right in the small of my back."

This'll be better if he's face down in the couch.

"Secret prison trysts," Jedao agrees brightly, shifting to let Quentin move, taking his empty mug and glasses for him to make the transition easier.

"You've chatted with Larry already, I think?"

"Uh- enough to know that that must be one weird safe sex talk."

Says Quentin, in surprise, as he settles down on his belly and peeks up at him with one eye, cheek resting on the couch cushion.

"I guess it actually makes perfect sense that you're up for troubleshooting sexy logistics. It's very you."

Jedao huffs a little at the accuracy of that.

"Mistletoe was driving him crazy, so I dragged him down to zero for hugs and kisses. More of a quick ad-hoc workaround than a comprehensive solution, but it was quite successful for a first sally."

"Have fun. Be safe. Tell me everything you'd both be okay with you telling me."

Says Quentin, not for the first time and probably not for the last.

"Bring him over for dinner sometime if you feel like he needs it."

"He's got some fucked-things-up with infidelity history, so that would be really good for him, I think," Jedao agrees. "Although he might be nervous about it at first, and he can't eat around people. Maybe a family game night, after the snow is dealt with?"

"Ooh. Arkham horror?"

Proposes Quentin, who loves an occasion for Arkham Horror, enough that he distracts neatly from drama!, passion!, intrigue! immediately at the prospect.

"I'll feel him out about it," Jedao promises, completely straight-faced with the double entendre as he starts working on Quentin's lower back properly.

"You feel so good."

Says Quentin, into the couch cushion, body just giving under his touch.

"Tell me your other news?"

"What are your thoughts on maybe-Norton? I'd check in with Rawne first too. It's not so much an active pursuit as just - he feels like such a cute half-trained baby fox to me, and lovely with kisses. If we got carried away later, maybe."

Jedao is enjoying just knowing him, playing with him, flirtation as teasing and teaching and skirmish, all at once. But that's not a road that leads nowhere, unless he's quite careful about it.

"Double triple quadruple check with Rawne, and make sure he says yes with his mouth and with his heart."

Says Quentin, muzzily, into the couch.

"Only because I think he might be in a little over his head there, and it would be such a shame to accidentally hurt his feelings and lose his company. Not that it'd impact me and him- but I know you love him too. If you feel in the end like it's worth going ahead for you, then go ahead, but be super aware of the risk of losing him, and if it happens try to make it gentle and a helpful lesson in staying friends even when it's complicated, you know?"

"I will be very careful. If he's hesitant at all I'll step back entirely," Jedao promises. "Rawne is family first. And I'm so glad he has you looking out for him. What about you? Still on pause, or...?"

"Still on pause."

Stretching his legs out a little, hitching his spine a touch longer with the new give of muscle.

"It's a weird feeling. I keep having computer metaphors float through my head; my heart is using all its' cpu momentarily, running red hot, maximum capacity."

"Your heart is a treasure, my darling." He smoothes his hands gently over the newly tender place, soothing and stroking, before starting to work on the next knot. "I support you, however you feel."

"So, who else have you kissed? Not potentials, just encounters."

He wants to know, feet crossing at the ankle, shoulders giving a little shiver of satisfaction.

"Spock and Connor were unexpectedly sweet about it. Misty and Yunlan and Peter were expectedly sweet. Steve made a decent run of things. And I got a taste of both of yours," he adds, wryly.

"You kissed Spock?"

Says Quentin, squirming around until he can roll on his back, looking up at him, astonished.

"He's from a tv show I watched when I was growing up. In fact, he was one of my very first crushes."

"And dragged him to a couch for cuddling, and he let me. I think he's a bit lonely. You should invite him to play chess," Jedao suggests.

[magician_king]

"How? I can't make eyecontact with him."

Reaching to catch Jedao's hand, to draw it down to a place on his hip where a muscle is giving him trouble.

"There were so few role models for little people who have trouble understanding the logic of human emotions. I always feel like it's incredibly rude to tell people they're fictional in my world, but it's also hard not to want to tell him I'm grateful for him having made me feel so much less alone, when I was still all little, serious and vulnerable."
